Mesh Networks for the Industrial Enterprise
Fecha: 10 de mayo 2010
As the economic recovery accelerates across the globe, industrial production is shifting into high gear. In order to achieve greater efficiency and productivity from mining, manufacturing, petrochemical, distribution, transportation, and energy assets, enterprises will need secure, reliable links between those assets and the people who use them. Video, voice and data will traverse those links for applications ranging from video surveillance to voice-over-IP to real-time telemetry.
Azalea’s mesh is uniquely positioned to handle these applications. Its mesh solutions can deliver broadcast-quality video and toll-quality voice on links ten kilometers (6 miles) or longer. Fast roaming enables Azalea to deliver video at 30 frames/second to vehicles moving at speeds up to 100 kilometers per hour (60 mph), making it ideal for campus public safety and mass transit applications. At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Azalea’s 600 mesh access points delivered Wi-Fi access, mobile patrol services, and video surveillance across 50 square kilometers of Beijing’s financial district and Olympic facilities.
The new outdoor mesh networks should find applications both within the installed customer base as well as new green field applications. An Azalea-based video surveillance system could be used standalone, say for parking lot monitoring, or overlaid to supplement an existing Aruba indoor Wi-Fi network. Large campuses, sports facilities, power generation plants, container and logistics yards, and defense installations are all excellent prospects for such surveillance systems.
The acquisition is expected to close by the end of this summer. If you have immediate sales opportunities prior to closing, and would like to call in someone from Azalea to help, please alert your local Aruba representative or distributor.
